Things to see and do in the Niagara RegionYou can reach Schaferhof from the Victoria Avenue exit off the QEW highway (exit # 57) Victoria Avenue runs directly south from Lake Ontario, and takes you up the escarpment through the town of Vineland and past Ball's Falls Conservation Area, where you can go hiking on the famous Bruce Trail. The area between Vineland and Niagara Falls is peppered
with Ontario's finest vineyards and wineries, and during your stay As you explore the area, watch for the "Wine Route" signs. They'll take you to places like Vineland Estates Winery just down the road from us. Every September, our area hosts the world-famous Niagara Grape and Wine Festival. While staying at Schaferhof, you're a ten minute drive from the heart of the festivities. If you like to play golf, you couldn't find a better place to stay than Schaferhof. The Sawmill Golf Course is right around the corner from us, and the Twenty Valley Golf Course is just a short drive away. And of course, there's Niagara Falls, one of the great wonders of the world. If you've never seen the falls, you won't want to miss it. We guarantee, you've never seen anything like it anywhere else on earth. And it's only a 25-minute drive from Schaferhof. CyclingBring your bicycles, for cycling is fun in Niagara. Explore vinyards
and fruit orchards from a different perspective. Planned cyling routes
are available for both the casual and expert riders! The Niagara Parkway,
dubbed "The prettiest Sunday afternoon drive in the world" by
Winston Churchill, has a cycling path all the way from Niagara on the
Lake to Fort Erie, with plenty of pictureque spots to stop and have a
picnic, or taste some of the wines of the wineries along the route. |
